Gear Up, Buttercup

Quest Summary

This quest begins when you accept a warp from your 1st Job Change NPC or use the Warper NPC to travel to Malangdo and speak to the Malangdo Guide.

Through a series of short introductory lessons, you will receive:

• Beginner gear
• Matchsticks
• A 1-hour Boarding Halter
• A 1-hour Beelzebub Wing
• Access to the Malangdo Dungeon

Step 1: Rest and Save at the Inn

Start the quest by speaking to the Malangdo Guide.

Location: malangdo,159,135

You will first be directed to rest and save at the local inn, granting full buffs to prepare you for your adventure.

Step 2: Campfire Training

After resting at the inn, visit Captain Purrlock.

Location: malangdo,283,228

Captain Purrlock introduces the Campfire System. Originally, players would use a Matchstick to create a campfire and sit nearby to recover HP and SP.

Note: Matchsticks have since been disabled, so this step is now automatically completed.

Step 3: Gear Distribution

Visit Scout Nyanpa on the ship in the center of Malangdo.

Location: malangdo,191,162

Scout Nyanpa will provide your starter equipment and instruct you to return to Captain Purrlock.

Step 4: More Essentials

Return to Captain Purrlock.

He will provide:

• A temporary Boarding Halter (1 hour)
• A temporary Beelzebub Wing (1 hour)

During this step, Purrlock will also introduce several important game systems, including:

• The Warper
• Random Option Re-Rolling
• Hunter's Assurance

Step 5: Pouring Hunt

To complete your training, Captain Purrlock asks you to hunt 10 Pourings.

These monsters can be found in the Malangdo Dungeon, which becomes accessible after receiving your starter gear.

After returning to Purrlock with the hunt completed, you receive:

• 3 Old Coins

Step 6: They Grow Up So Fast

After completing the hunt, Purrlock sends you to Whiskerbeard near the Malangdo Dungeon entrance.

Whiskerbeard asks you to return once you reach Base Level 40.

When you return, you will receive:

• Red Malangdo Hat

He will then recommend traveling to Dewata, where the hat will be particularly useful.
